Portada Carmen San Miguel

Carmen San Miguel

Carmen San Miguel is a bar/restaurant that is located a bit off the beaten track. It is in the Alhambra area, but on the Mauro hill. So the hill opposite to the one the Alhambra is on. You can also say it is in the Realejo Alto neighbourhood, as one of the gates to the Carmen opens to this neighbourhood. But the entrance to the bar/restaurant is at the feet of the Torres Bermejas.

It is a restaurant I passed by on earlier occasions, because I always thought it was closed. But the other day I saw a sign saying ´terrace with great view´ and furthermore the door was open.
Besides the main door I saw a small sign, saying ´ring the doorbell´. So maybe the bar and restaurant were open the other times too.

That day I talked to the manager of Carmen San Miguel and I decided to return another day to have a drink. And one Friday evening I returned with a classmate. It was just the two of us on the terrace and later on in the veranda, as it was getting cold. The view of the terrace and veranda are just great!

On the first floor is the restaurant with a couple of tables. It is not very big, but it is charm full and it has the same great view as from the terrace. On average the price is a bit above the general prices in Granada, but they also have meals at a good price. But above all, it is a great place to take your partner.

The drinks are also slightly higher priced tan average, but it has great, and homemade, tapas. One of the two we had, can be seen in the gallery. The staff was also really nice and attended us well. It was even possible to sit next to the fire place if we wanted it. The daughter doing her homework would then have to find another place to sit.

This place is really worth a detour!
