La Posada del Duende

La Posada del Duende

Our last visit was to La Posada del Duende. The name Posada del Duende, is derived from the streetname, but also from the duende (spirit) of the bullfighters, and above all the way of being a torero. According to the waiter, the spirit has died, but the theme related to bullfighting is still present. There are photos and posters of toreros and bullfighting and also a bulls head.

This bar and restaurant consists of several small rooms. In part of the bar are 6 bar stools and a barrel as a table. In the little room belonging to the bar, are two tables with chairs. And then there are two rooms as restaurant, one is in the style of a patio Andaluz, with 5 table. The other has 8 tables. Outside there are two barrels that serve as a terrace on the street.

The Sunday that I visited them, there were, around 13.30h, eight persons in the bar and one table occupied in the restaurant. The majority of the people in the bar only came in for one drink and then left again.

The tapas they serve are typical (Andalusian) tapas. The first one was a tortilla Española (served warm), the second one was soupy rice (as it is Sunday) and as third tapa they served migas.
The first drink I had was a tinto de verano, which had sufficient wine. This day they did not have tap beer anymore, nor a glass of Ribera wine. The Rioja, house wine, they served, was not to my taste so I ended up having a glass of white wine. Not bad, but also not a great wine.

La Posada del Duende opened some 40 years ago and all kind of people are visiting the bar, families, couples and elderly people. Today all clients were Spanish. But according to the waiter there is a lot of tourism via tour operators all days of the week, especially foreigners.

Opening hours of the bar are from 13 till 16.30h and from 19.30 till 23.30h, seven days a week.
