Vega Foodie Bar

Vega Foodie Bar – Closed

This bar no longer exists

Today’s blog is about a relatively new bar, Vega foodie bar. This bar contacted me for a possible visit. I must say that on my own I might not have found it and this gem would have kept a secret for a while longer. But it definitely is a diamond worth being in the spotlight. The name of the bar is derived from the Vega of Granada (the rural area of Granada).

The bar is not very big, but has corners for each liking. They have three different levels. Ground floor, left door entrance bar, leads to five tables, eight bar stools and the bar. The “attic” has three tables, and two with comfortable chairs. That definitely is the relax corner. The entresol, right door entrance, leads to an area with 6 tables that can be put together for meetings. They are starting with wine tastings and are thinking about live music and cultural activities.

The bar might not be so big, but the food is big. Loved everything the owner, Jose, (okay actually one of the three) served us to try. The first tapa served was a simple one, a bit of tortilla Española. but it was served in an attractive way. He also served us some of the delicious cheeses they have. They come straight from the producer in La Mancha.

Next thing we tried of the menu of Vega foodie bar were some baos. A steam bun with different fillings, for example Pastrami con mustard or Duck a la orange, Philadelphia cheese with salmon and goat cheese with caramelized onions. All equally great.
Next thing to try were the brochetas. They do serve them as tapas as well as portions. They are always served with a creme soup or a salmorejo. We tried the brochetas of salmon, Iberian pig and American angus with a courgette creme.

What came for me as a surprise is their extensive offer on wines. They have several different white and red wines available per glass. This bar was not one my list of wine bars to visit. For my second drink I choose a glass of wine, following the advice of Jose. I tried Honoro Vera. Sure worth a try. A detail I liked is the fact that the wineglass has the logo of the bar.
With the second drink we got the try the tapa of salmorejo and a a small bun with minced meat with spicy bolognese sauce.

When we were here at midday it was not very busy, probably in the weekends evening it might be more crowded. Or maybe the place is still unknown to a lot of people.
The Vega Foodie bar is open 7 days a week from noon to midnight. In low season, till end of February the bar is closed on Sunday evening.

Definitely a place I will return to and will recommend to friends and of course all of you readers.
